The Beaver Valley Choral Society celebrates its 2023 Diamond Jubilee by presenting its Lenten concert series, “God So Loved the World.” The Principal Choir, Orchestra, and Treble Youth Chorale will present this musical message of hope, peace, and joy through the sacrifice and resurrection of the Christ.
“God So Loved the World” is presented at these locations:
- Saturday, March 25 at 4pm: New Brighton United Methodist Church, 1033 Sixth Avenue, New Brighton 15066
- Sunday, March 26 at 4pm: Our Lady of the Valley Saints Peter & Paul Parish, 200 Third Street, Beaver 15009
- Saturday, April 1 at 4pm: New Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 183 New Bethlehem Church Road, Hopewell Township 15001
This will be a concert you don’t want to miss, featuring the music of composers Craig Carnahan, Pepper Choplin, David Das, Dan Forrest, Philip H. Inman, Kyle Pedersen, Michael Praetorius, John Rutter, Lydon Salathiel, John Staner and George W. Warren; and arrangements by Larry Moore, Alice Parker and Robert Shaw.
The highlight of the program is “Praise God in His Sanctuary,” a selection written by Philip H. Inman, former director of the Beaver Valley Choral Society. Selections from John Rutter’s “Requiem” –(I) ‘Requiem aeternam,’ (III) ‘Pie Jesu’ and (VI) ‘The Lord is My Shepherd’ – also will be showcased.
Admission is free, but donations are accepted. Sharon Burchill, BVCS Artistic Director and Principal Conductor, conducts the 93-voice adult Principal Choir and Orchestra. Director Deborah Silverstein leads the thirteen children who are members of the Treble Youth Chorale.
