The Beaver Valley Choral Society is celebrating its 100th Anniversary Year! The volunteer 100-plus chorus was formed a century ago and is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee this year: 2022-2023: Our Second Century of Song. Welcome new singers and musicians to join us as we prepare for our annual Christmas Concert season.
Auditions are not required for singers, as long as the vocalist can sing tunefully. Auditions are also not required for orchestra members but they must be able to read music and play their instrument proficiently.
Our Christmas Concert is entitled: Emmanuel Shall Come, Messiah. The concert title is taken from two of the pieces: Emmanuel Shall Come, by Dan Forrest, and the oratorio Messiah, by Georg Friderich Handel. Selections from the Christmas portion of Messiah are programmed. Additional music is by Ola Gjeilo, Steve Danyew, Joel Raney, and Lee Dengler.
There will be preview rehearsals on Monday, August 29, 7:00 pm at New Brighton United Methodist Church, 1033 Sixth Avenue, New Brighton. Sessions are open to the general public as well as BVCS members. The first full rehearsal for both the Adult Principal Choir and Treble Youth Chorale begins on Monday, September 19 at 7pm, where we will begin preparing for the Christmas concert.
